The circular shallow box with flush-fitting cover decorated in red, black, silver and gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kinpun and muranashiji on a gyobu-nashiji ground and inlaid in Somada style with a biwa and pipes (sho), and an open fan among scattered maple leaves, the interior with tomoe in gold hiramaki-e and aogai inlay on a sparse nashiji ground, pewter rims
