A PAIR OF MONUMENTAL CHINESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASES, ON STANDS
FIRST HALF 20TH CENTURY
Each with brass lip blue painted with geometric leiwen bands, above a waisted neck with lotus lappets and intertwined dragons, Shou characters and a double gourd collar with symbols of the Eight Precious Things, each bulbous body exuberantly decorated to one side with a pair of pheasants standing on rockwork amidst peonies and chrysanthemums, and the other side with cranes, exotic birds and spotted deer amidst lotus, peony and prunus flowers, all on a cloud waved Cobalt blue ground, tapering to a convex socle band with symbols of the Eight Precious Things, on a ruyi and arabesque decorated spreading circular foot, raised on an relief-carved ebonised lacquered pine stand
