Lot Essay

Both the Report [on] the petition of several yeomen, farmers and grasiers of Middlesex, Surrey and Kent, and George Pearson's Experiments on the Potatoe-Root are rare tracts, ESTCm locating only one copy of each (BL) though the former is also in the Goldsmith's Library. The Account of the Experiments tried by the Board of Agriculture ... gives a number of recipes for making bread, and the presentation inscription on this copy is of interest, both as evidence of its true authorship (not provided by ESTC, Goldsmith or Kress), and of the fact that Cunninghame was still living at Eyam in 1795 -- a point concerning which DNB is unsure.
