A SMALL DARKISH GREEN GE-HALBERD BLADE
WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, C. 1100-771 BC.
The jade is carved with a arching blade asymmetrically tapering to a triangular tip, with a hole pierced below the slightly narrower tang extending to a notched edge.

Lot Essay

A similar but slightly larger (14.3 cm.) ge was excavated from tomb 502, Rui state tomb in Shaanxi province, illustrated in Golden Age of the Rui State: Zhou Dynasty Treasures from Hancheng, Shaanxi Province, Shanghai, no.26, p.74.
