Reposant sur un petit pied droit, l'extérieur est finement peint des Huit Immortels, Baxian, au-dessus des vagues tumultueuses. L'intérieur est orné des trois dieux taoïstes, Fu Xing, Lu Xing et Shoulao sous un pin tortueux dans un cartouche circulaire.

Lot Essay

The scene depicts the legend of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, and this same detailed pattern is found on other bowls of the period, cf. a pair of bowls sold in Christie's Hong Kong, 28 October 2002, lot 703; and a single bowl from the Riesco collection included in the O.C.S., Exhibition of Chinese Blue and White Porcelain, London, 1954, no. 309.
