An Italian 'Spanish' morion
of one piece, encircled at the base with lining rivets, each with brass rosette-shaped washer, and narrow brim struck with a mark, late 16th century -- 8½in. (21.5cm) high
The mark, which represents the arms of the Barberini family under a coronet, is found on a large group of Spanish morions from the old Papal armoury, now in the Museo Storico Vaticano in the Lateran Palace, Rome.
