of one piece with tall pointed skull, encircled at the base by lining rivets each with brass rosette-shaped washer and with shaped plume-holder at the rear, narrow brim pointed fore and aft, late 16th/early 17th century, probably Italian -- 9in. (23cm) high; and a small halberd with flat crescentic axe-blade (repaired), flat leaf-shaped spike and fluke, moulded socket engraved with letters and, No.3, and two long straps, on original wooden haft of octagonal section, early 18th century
