This impressively large horse with cream-colored coat exhibits finely rendered details such as the long, incised mane, the textured tri-color saddle and the well-articulated trappings. A slightly larger (37 in. high) cream-glazed horse with amber-glazed saddle was sold at Christie’s New York, 22-23 March 2012, lot 1964.

The result is of The Chinese University of Hong Kong thermoluminescence test no. 01081 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
