These impressive hounds were placed in a prominent position in the library of Henry Ford II's celebrated Grosse Pointe Farms home on the shore of Lake St Clair, as shown in the watercolour of the room by Elizabeth Hoops (illustrated opposite). Their prominent positioning in this important interior suggests that the Fords prized them highly amongst the many important works in their renowned collection.
