Decorated in bright enamels and gilt to the centre with the coat-of-arms of the Tower family, encircled within a spear-head border, the cavetto with scrolls and gourds in reserve on a dense pink geometric ground, the flattened rim with peonies and lotus flower heads and the family's griffin crest Love and Read, black-painted Ford Inv. No. CC- 21- a and CC- 21 - b to underside of base
