The fifth Koberger Bible, with illuminated initial and smaller multicolor initials throughout. Koberger was a prolific Nuremberg printer, now best known for his Nuremberg Chronicle. HC 3072*; GW 4239; BMC II 417; BSB-Ink B-435; Bod-inc B-273; Goff B-564; ISTC ib00564000.

Royal folio (360 x 255mm). 468 leaves. Large illuminated initial on f. 1, smaller initials in red, blue, and cyan throughout with flourishes; notes printed in black in shoulder of New Testament, with red shoulder notes in manuscript (dampstained with spotting and soiling, first leaf remargined at gutter and edges, with cognate leaf also repaired at inner margin with tear at upper gutter, whole gathering sprung; repaired tear in text of one leaf; final gathering also repaired at gutter; some spotting and soiling; a few headlines just shaved). Modern quarter calf over oak boards. Provenance: marginalia in several hands (some trimmed) – acquired from Lucian Goldschmidt, 19 October 1955.
