The works of the “Christian Cicero,” with illuminated initial and armorial decoration. The tenth edition overall of an enormously important work in the Italian Renaissance, this copy contains marginalia correcting the text in both Latin and Greek. Chancery folio (314 x 214mm). 148 leaves. Illuminated acanthus initial on gold ground on b2, with armorial with flower and initial “N” in the bas-de-page (some soiling and spotting, some gatherings toned). Modern oxblood morocco (tightly bound). Provenance: early marginalia correcting the text in Greek and Latin – Silvain S. Brunschwig (1900?-1955; morocco book label) – acquired from Internationaal Antiquariaat en Modern Boekhandel, Amsterdam, 18 May 1966.
