The exterior is painted in shades of iron red with three chilong with sinuous bodies and split tails chasing each other.

A bottle of this rare design and form is in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong: Qing Porcelain from the Palace Museum collection, Hong Kong, 1989, p. 240, no. 69 (fig. 1); another from the J. M. Hu Collection, was sold at Christie’s New York, 28 March 1996, lot 388.
