Il est sculpté de façon très naturaliste, ses pattes articulées autour de lui, la carapace du dos s'ouvrant pour former boîte. Ses yeux exorbités sont également mobiles.

Acquired by the great-grand-father of the present owner between 1894-1897 in Asia where he was travelling with the famous French explorer Jean Chaffanjon (1854-1913).
