Lot Essay

It is unusual to find barrel seats in cloisonne enamel but a cloisonne enamel seat decorated with dragons from the 17th century is illustrated in Chinesisches Cloisonne Die Samlung Pierre Uldry, Helmut Brinker and Albert Lutz, Zurich, 1985, no. 179. See also a pair of 18th century cloisonne enamel barrel seats from the collection of Alfred Morrison, Fonthill House, sold at Christie's London, 9 November 2004, lot 56.
