Incredibly rare albumen mounted image depicting the Boston Red Sox team posed at Pittsburgh during the inaugural 1903 World Series. Boston players are positioned seated in front row wearing full uniforms including Hall of Fame members Cy Young and Jimmy Collins. The famed "Royal Rooters" of Boston led by "Nuf Ced" McGreevey are visible seated and standing behind the players. Image size measures 10"x14" remaining affixed to its original cabinet mount. Photo quality presents in superb original condition showing excellent clarity, contrast, and composition. Interior image quality is superb with uncommonly vibrant contrast. Area of surface toning to the top right background margins which appears to be from moisture exposure. Pittsburgh photographer "Rosser" label affixed to the back of mount. Matted and framed in gilt lined museum quality display (not inspected out of frame). One of only two examples we have encountered. Very fine original photograph of the highest significance relating to the inaugural World Series between two of baseball's iconic franchises: VG-EX
