White knit jersey as worn by Cal Ripken Jr. during his rookie campaign in 1982 retaining its original "Orioles" team name across the front with number "8" below. "Ripken" nameplate affixed to the back above number "8" both all original to the shirt as well. Appropriate Descente manufacturer's tagging inside tail front with additional "82.44.8" and "Set 1" supplemental tags. Exceptional use and wash wear evident throughout while remaining in completely original condition. Ripken Jr. entered the league with little fanfare in 1981 as a late season call up. In 1982, Cal finally broke through and was named as the starting third baseman for the Orioles. Manager Earl Weaver eventually moved Cal to shortstop and after a slow start he began hitting and fielding his way to 1982 American League Rookie of the Year Honors. Outstanding rookie season jersey from an iconic Hall of Fame member. Includes LOA from SGC/Grob: Superior): EX-MT
