Lot Essay

Very unique and frankly "cool" original tortoiseshell flip down sunglasses as worn by and originating from the personal collection of Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson. Custom made glasses retain a period black elastic backstrap with hinged flip down glass lenses. 'Brooks" printed in white raised lettering on vintage orange dymo label affixed to the front. The glasses retain their original black vinyl sheath with "B.Robinson" written on linen tape on front. Glasses show very fine evident use while remaining in a fine state of preservation as if they just came off the field. Classic visual equipment piece that takes you back to watching Brooks field the third baseman's position like no other before or since. Includes signed letter of provenance from Brooks Robinson: VG-EX
