Babe Ruth departed after the 1934 season. The Bronx Bombers were re-configuring their identity behind their slugging first baseman Lou Gehrig with a mixture of veteran and youthful players. Most notably, an athletic outfielder from the Pacific Coast League named Joseph Paul DiMaggio joined the club in 1936 and took the league by storm. The Yankees would go on to capture a number of AL and World Championships during that tenure led by Gehrig and DiMaggio. Oversized 11"x16 ½" black and white photograph picturing seven Yankee batsman lined up on the field at Yankee Stadium. Each player has signed their respective image in blue fountain pen incl. Joe DiMaggio, Frank Crosetti, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Lou Gehrig, Jake Powell and George Selkirk. The signatures remain in nearly as signed condition ranging from 9-10 out of 10. The offered signed photo was discovered in one of Joe DiMaggio's personal storage trunks within a period cardboard tube where it resided for 70 years. The image itself has a few very minor surface wrinkles, tiny ¼" edge tear at the right side, and few small border chips at bottom edge confined to the wite margin. Includes a xerox copy of a 1936 image picturing the Yankees in the locker room signing baseballs and an identical version of the offered photograph. Important Yankees related photograph in high condition grade with important primary source origination from Joe DiMaggio's personal collection.
