SIGNED 'ABD AL-HUSAYN, QAJAR IRAN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper, 133ff., plus four flyleaves, 25ll. of black naskh, within gold and black rules, catchwords, gold and polychrome rosette verse markers, sura headings in gold thuluth on gold and polychrome illuminated panels, hizb, juz', nisf juz' and sajda marked with illuminated marginal devices, marginal notes in small black nasta'liq in elegantly illuminated panels, opening bifolio with prayers in gold thuluth within red lobed medallions on floral ground, followed by an illuminated bifolio framing 6ll. of text in clouds reserved against gold ground, a further bifolio with prayers in gold thuluth within red lobed medallions on floral ground after the text, followed by further prayers, in Qajar floral lacquer binding, red lacquer doublures with dense floral scrolls, overall very good condition

An impressive Qajar Qur'an which was illuminated in a very similar way to our example and dated AH 1236/1820-1 AD was sold in these Rooms, 23 April 2016, lot 100.
