The present disc may have been adapted from jade carvings from the Qijia Culture (CIRCA 2050-1700 BC). The style of carving, including the double-lined scrolls and feather motifs are simialr to those found on two jade pendants excavated from the Yanshan hoard at Wu County, Jiangsu province, illustrated in Zhongguo yuqi quanji-3-Spring Autumn Period, Hebei, 1993, nos. 94, 95.
