After the Bath III was produced by transferring an impression of the final state of After the Bath II to another, larger stone. The image is retained in numerous areas which convey the figure from the earlier print but the composition has clearly been reworked to produce the current print. In this work, the first state of the reworked image, Degas has added a rounded back to the chaise and the servant holding the towel. The figure of the bather has been scraped and enlarged and the towel redrawn. In this state twenty impressions have been located, many of which are signed.
