MEZCALA STONE PENDANT, TYPE M24

The elongated head surmounted by a miniature standing anthropomorphic figure; pierced at the top of the ears for suspension.

Carlo Gay commentary on the present pendant, "in what may be a unique example, a full figure stands on top of a fairly large head" (ibid, p. 137).

Lot Essay

Pendentif percé au sommet des oreilles pour la suspension et représentant une tête allongée surmontée d’un personnage anthropomorphe miniature debout.

Comme l’a écrit Carlo Gay sur le présent lot : « on rencontre sur ce pendentif, qui est peut-être un cas unique, un personnage entier placé sur une tête de grande taille » (ibid, p. 137).
