MEZCALA STONE FIGURE, TYPE M26

Characterized by the naturalistic treatment of the human physiognomy with coffee-bean slits for the eyes and mouth.

"The total number of figures of this type (M-26) is about 5 percent of all human representations, either standing or seated" (ibid, p. 97).
