MIXTEC STONE TLALOC PENDANT

An anthropomorphic depiction of a seated Tlaloc, the God of Rain and Thunder, sporting a janus-headed monsters as headdress; pierced at the neck for suspension

The Early Spaniards called these ubiquitous effigy pendants peñates.

Pendentif percé au cou pour la suspension et représentant Tlaloc, Dieu de la pluie et du tonnerre, assis et sous une forme anthropomorphe tout en portant une coiffure janiforme à têtes de monstres.

Les premiers conquistadors espagnols ont dénommés ce type de pendentifs omniprésents sous le nom de peñates.
