H.M. Borges, Madeira Terrantez 1846
Madeira
Bottled in 1900. Recorked in 2011 by Francisco Albuquerque. New wax capsule. Badly bin-soiled label. Typewriter back label stating "offered by Senior Carnacho 7/9/1970". Level: into-neck
“As uvas de Terrantez Nao as comas nem as des Para vinho Deus as fez”
“The Terrantez grapes neither eat them nor give them away, for wine God made them”
Tasting note: First tasted in 2013. Orange golden color.
Great sweet refined nose of beeswax, dried apricots, honey and orange peel.
Mouth filling taste, semi-sweet with nice acidity behind. On the after taste a lingering dried fruit with slight grapefruit bitterness and mandarin fruit. A great wine!
In 2020 from a bottle which was just opened before dinner at Quinta das Vinhas from the Welsh family collection.
Beautiful nose of expressive floral notes, dried peaches, high toned with rich aromas. Touch chemical which faded with air. Intriguing wine which opens up gracefully in the glass. Refined fudge tone.
Soft medium sweet taste of distinction and balance. This is so gorgeously styled. All elegance and lacelike texture. A beauty of race and charm. Very intriguing and with a unique class. Great wine! Last tasted January 2020. Edwin Vos
