Two, 2-page 2° documents, signed: "Nelson & Bronte," to Captain Thomas, from: "Victory at Sea," 29 September and 8 October 1804, the first an order for him to proceed with wine pipes to the Bay of Rosas and deliver them to Mr Edward Gayner, a merchant, and collect any letters for Nelson from him before returning (traces of guard); the second an order for Thomas to proceed to Naples with dispatches: "taking care to have a sufficient weight affixed to them and ready to throw overboard into the sea" in case of danger of capture by the enemy, to wait four days at Naples for replies, then go to Madalena (2)
