Lot Essay

Richard Mille’s spectacular Pink Lady RM07-02 is almost impossible to obtain, each piece is eagerly awaited and pre-sold long before it arrives at the boutique. To the best of our knowledge, the present magnificent timepiece is the first example ever to be offered at international auction and provides the opportunity to obtain one of the most beautiful and exclusive of Richard Mille’s timepieces without delay.
Crafted from a single block of rose-coloured translucent sapphire crystal and set with diamonds, the Pink Lady is one of Richard Mille’s most extraordinary and ambitious creations and the first Mille watch to be made of coloured crystal. Sapphire crystal is incredibly hard to machine and furthermore to set with diamonds, made possible due to the brands unrivalled experience of working with innovative materials. The machining of the three case parts takes an incredible 40 days followed by a further 350 hours to polish. The in-house movement caliber CRMA5, has hand-bevelled pink gold plates and is set with a myriad of diamonds. Technically very impressive, as expected from Richard Mille, the movement has a fast-rotating barrel to evenly regulate the distribution of power and a free-sprung balance spring, a feature usually only found on high-precision timepieces. Even the movement jewels are transparent and the variable geometry rotor is set with diamonds, this ingenious self-winding mechanism which gives the wearer the option of adapting the winding to their activity level, such as sports or leisure. By adjusting the six-positional setting of the rib, the rotor’s inertia is modified to either speed up the winding process in the case of minimal arm and hand movements, or slow it down during times of high activity, thus adapting to the owner’s individual lifestyle.
This amazing Richard Mille watch is a true rare ‘jewel’ in every sense of the word and is without doubt one of the most sought after lady’s timepieces in the world.
