Lot Essay

Introduced at Basel World in 2011, reference 5270 is the most recent addition to the legendary Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph family starting with the reference 1518 from 1941.

With a thinner case and a 1 mm. increase in diameter over its predecessor (ref. 5970) the 5270 wears quite differently from previous Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronographs. Another contributing factor to this is the new in-house calibre housed inside, which features a day/night indicator as well as dropped subsidiary dials altering the proportions of the dial.

Reference 5270G-001 is the first generation of 5270 which was eventually discontinued and replaced with 5270G-013 and 5270G- 014 such as the present example which reintroduced the tachymeter scale seen on ref. 5970. The present watch comes with full accessories and is in unworn condition. It provides a good opportunity for collectors to join the Patek perpetual calendar chronograph family.
