CAOL ILA

Caol Ila is Gaelic, meaning ‘the Sound of Islay'. The distillery stands on the northern shores of Islay and is the largest distillery on the island. Built in 1846 by Hector Henderson, it has served as an important base of several successful blends including Johnnie Walker Black Label.
Caol Ila is rarely seen in standalone bottlings until 2002, when it appeared in the Flora & Fauna Series and Rare Malts Selection. It is classic Islay malt with a distinct maritime salinity, a nutty complexity and a smooth, velvet texture.
