Lot Essay

This late drawing shows the influence of Thomas Rowlandson, under whom Nixon studied, in its incidental detail and depictions of everyday life. The George Inn, to the left, is the original pilgrim's inn of Glastonbury, and beyond it is the Church of St John's.
