According to the artist's inscription, this present painting was painted in Paris on the twenty-third day, the fourth month of the bingshen year (1956). It is also interesting to notice that the paper used for this painting is the Canson & Montgolfier French paper. Our painting was certainly painted by Zhang Daqian when he came to Paris for the first time for his painting exhibition which officially introduced him to the European public in the Musée d'art Moderne in Paris during June and July the same year.That year was also marked by the historical exchange between Zhang Daqian and Pablo Picasso at 'La Californie' mansions in Cannes.
