De forme quadrilobée, la panse légèrement évasée est décorée de bandeaux bleu pâle et bleus alternés, le bandeau central orné de dragons archaïsants stylisés en cuivre doré et les bandeaux inférieur et supérieur de rinceaux feuillagés en cuivre doré. La pied droit évasé également quadrilobé est souligné d'une frise de courtes feuilles de bananier. Le bord supérieur est rehaussé d'un rang de cabochons.

Lot Essay

This type of richly decorated jardinières may have been made for a jade and hardstone plant - a popular decoration within the imperial palace during the Qing dynasty. See a champleve jardinière with hardstone miniature tree in the collection of the Palace Museum of Beijing, under the inventory number Gu00125914 ; a closely related example, dated 18th century, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 19 May 2013, lot 2168. Also compare to a pair of embellished champleve jardinière from the de Guigne collection, dated 18th-early 19th century, sold at Christie's New York, 24 March 2016.
