Wang Keping est un des chefs du groupe d’avant-garde chinois « Xing Xing » des années 1970. Il se concentre depuis ses débuts sur la pratique de la sculpture du bois. Keping s’efforce à choisir l’arbre, à le couper et à lui donner une forme cohérente, suivre ses courbes naturelles et révéler toute la beauté qu’il porte en lui et permet d’offrir au créateur. En cela, l’artiste capture humblement l’essence de son matériau. Avec une première exposition au Musée National des Beaux-Arts de Pékin, ses travaux ont été choisis pour figurer dans des centaines d’expositions autours du monde. Il est actuellement représenté et exposé dans la galerie Nathalie Obadia à Paris.
Wang Keping is one of the leaders of the Chinese avant-garde group “Xing Xing” during the 1970s. Since his early days, he has concentrated on the practice of wood sculpture. Keping strives to choose the tree, cut it and give it a coherent form, following its natural curves and revealing all the beauty it carries within it and allows the creator to offer. In this, the artist humbly captures the essence of his material. With a first exhibition at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Beijing, his work has been chosen to be included in hundreds of exhibitions around the world. He is currently represented and exhibited in the Nathalie Obadia Gallery in Paris.
