AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF LARGE CHINESE CHAMPLEVÉ AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMELED VASES
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
Each with globular lower section formed by large overlapping lotus leaves, the shoulder with six evenly spaced lotus pods on a brightly colored ground with butterflies and scattered sprays of peony, prunus and chrysanthemum, the floral motifs continuing up the neck which is flanked by a pair of lotus root handles and surmounted by a garlic-head mouth.
