A very attractive set in a contemporary binding of Johnson’s monumental Works of the English Poets, including Cowley, Milton, Dryden, Pope, and Swift alongside poets who may be lesser known today, like Waller, Parnell, Shenstone, and others. Comprising the Prefaces in ten volumes, the Works in 56 volumes, and the Index in two volumes. Courtney & Smith, pp. 140-141.

68 volumes, small octavo (150 x 89mm). 20 engraved portrait frontispieces and 68 vols: 10 vols of prefaces, 56 vols of works, and 2 index vols (vols 38 & 39 with dampstaining to lower margin). Contemporary calf gilt, green and red morocco spine labels (joints just starting in a few places, a few minor chips and scuffs, two vols with dampstain to lower margin and some associated wear).
