First edition, in original parts. After twenty-three years of artistic partnership, this was the last Dickens novel illustrated by Hablot K. Browne. First issue of part 7/8, with page 213 numbered “113.” Hatton & Cleaver 331-341; Eckel 86-90; Podeschi/Gimbel A140.

7 parts in 8, octavo. Etched frontispiece, title, and 14 plates by Hablot K. Browne, with all of the “Tale of Two Cities” advertisements and slips called for by Hatton & Cleaver except for “British College of Health” in part 3 and the “Cornhill Magazine” in part 7/8 (pages 5-6 of advertisements torn out in part 5, some thumbing and scattered spots throughout). Original blue-green pictorial wrappers (some wrappers soiled, scattered thumbing, chipping to spines and slight splitting in parts 1, 2, and 7/8, minor repairs to spine in part 3). Custom box and chemise.
