Iznik dishes with similar so-called kaleidoscopic designs are published by Nurhan Atasoy and Julian Raby, Iznik, the Pottery of Ottoman Turkey, London, 1989, p.243, cat.462-470. Like ours those dishes often have a radiating motif based around a central flowerhead. A number of them also employ the use of small black scrolls in the background, such as those seen on the dish in the following lot.
