WISDEN
Cricketers' Almanack for 1918, edited by Sydney H. Pardon. London: John Wisden and Co., 1918.
A fine example of the 55th edition in hardback. This edition continued the roll of deaths in the war. It is said of Rear Admiral the Hon. H.L.A. Hood that he ‘was a very keen if not very distinguished cricketer. When in command of a battleship he always endeavoured to secure good cricketers as the officers of his ward and gun-rooms.’
Octavo (162 x 97mm). Half tone plate 'School Bowlers of the Year' (one small spot on fore-edges of pp.20-30, otherwise a clean, fresh copy). Original brown hardback publisher's cloth gilt, printed yellow endpapers (minimal rubbing confined to corners and spine ends).
