Dishes of this type can be found in museums and major private collection around the world. A number are published including a dish in the S.C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, illustrated in Chinese Porcelain, Part 1, Hong Kong, 1987, no. 80; another included in the Exhibition of Chinese Ceramics of Eight Dynasties, National Museum of History, Taipei, 1987, p. 86; one exhibited in The Wonders of the Potter's Palette, Hong Kong Museum of Art, November 1984-January 1985, no. 22; and another in the Tokyo National Museum included in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, Tokyo, Kodansha Series, 1982, vol. 1, no. 158.
The present lot may be closely compared to the pair of dishes sold by Sotheby's Hong Kong, 11 April 2008, lot 2918 and to the dish from the Shorenstein Collection, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 1 December 2010, lot 2963.
This dish was one of two originally owned by the vendor's mother and gifted to her children. The other dish was sold at Christie's London, 17 June 1985, lot 474.
