Lot Essay

As showed by the ensemble of fruit-form white jade boxes in the present collection, such boxes appear to have been produced in various shapes in the 18th century. See finger-citron-form white jade boxes and covers sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 27 November 2020, lot 632, and in our New York rooms, 14 – 17 September 2017, lot 1023. A pomegranate-form box was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 8 April 2011, lot 3274. See a double-gourd-form white jade box sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 7 October 2009, lot 1716.
