Lot Essay

The quality of the carving indicates that this yellow glass snuff bottle comes from the imperial workshop. Emperor Qianlong showed his talent in literature and was fond of leaving his poetry on artifacts. A close example of yellow glass snuff bottle with inscription of Qianlong is illustrated in Universe in a Bottle, Treasures of Snuff Bottles, National Museum of History, Taiwan, 2008, pp. 54-55.
