Lot Essay
Each unique piece consists of three paper elements collaged with Duramount "R" pressure-sensitive adhesive. The artist drew on each piece with one or more of the following materials: Rowney, Grumbacher, Diane Townsend, Sennilier, and Caran D'Ache pastel chalks. The figure, made of Colombe handmade paper, was printed on two sides and embossed using a textured plate created by the artist. The printed figures were then cut out by hand, shaped by the artist into unique configurations, and collaged to the blue base. The blue base, made of Meirat Velasquez handmade paper, had sections cut out and removed. Then it was collaged onto the yellow base. The printed yellow base, made of 4-ply Museum board, was designed to serve as the background for the blue cut-out shape and the multicolored figure. Both the blue and the yellow sections were cut into the same configurations. Each piece received a protective coating of TW Graphics 5103 clear upon completion.
