carved in the form of a volume, and mounted in silver with swivelling straps, engraved with foliage, the sides of the case modelled in relief with shield-shaped devices enclosing a key and a thistle, rose and tulip to the reverse, each flanked by further keys and figures of bees to the spandrels, with inlaid eyes, the spine with stamped ornament, English, probably late 17th century -- 4¼in.
