Lot Essay

John Hubbard (1931-2017) was an American-born painter who lived and worked in England for more than 50 years. His work is held in many public collections including the Tate, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the Government Art Collection, Pallant House Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art. He won the Jerwood Painting Prize in 1996.
