An oak dug-out chest
with two separate recepticals hewn from adjacent sections of the same tree, each with its own lid set into rebates, iron-bound, with lifting handle, having nine locks, one double, previously with an iron strap concealing the join, English, probably early 16th century -- 81½in. (207cm.) wide

Provenance:
Wolverley Church, Wolverley, Worcestershire

The whole chest was set into the stone-work of the church which accounts for the extent of the rot at the back lower edge.
