An oak joined stool
with moulded top and ogee moulded friezes, on ring-turned legs joined by a moulded H-shaped square section stretcher, North Somerset, mid 17th century -- 18in. (46cm.) wide

A similar example is illustrated in Victor Chinnery, Oak Furniture, The British Tradition, Woodbridge, 1979, p.267, fig. 3.98. The author notes that the H, or centre stretcher is rare in stools
