the hinged lid with gouged edge, the front carved with griffins, a wyvern, a unicorn, a lion, hounds, a rabbit, a fox and a stag, on a diaper and matted ground, the sides with a heraldic lion and dragon, branded I.I. and twice P.I., North Country, late 16th century -- 25in. (64cm.) wide
