Lot Essay

The present Buddha bears close stylistic comparison to those of the same size that formed the gilt-bronze Buddhist triad sold at Christie's Paris, 16 December 2022, lot 91. It can also be compared to a slightly smaller gilt-bronze seated figure of Buddha Shakyamuni (36.5 cm. high), hands held in dhyana mudra, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 November 2016, lot 3239.
