Edwin Evans (1871-1945) was the music critic for Pall Mall Gazette from 1912 to 1923. Evans had a passion for Sergei Diaghilev, the Impresario behind the Ballets Russes, and Igor Stravinsky, the composer with whom he collaborated on some of his most iconic productions. In 1919, Evans met and befriended Pablo Picasso when the artist was visiting London with the Ballet Russes. Evans wrote an important series of essays, notably on the ballets The Firebird and Petrushka.
